Belinda Magana is on death row in the United States because of child abuse, torture, and first-degree murder of a baby. According to reports, she and her then-boyfriend Naresh Narine scalded their baby with hot water, beat him when he couldn’t stop crying, deprived him of medical care. Eventually, the child died after enduring multiple injuries. She and her boyfriend Naresh were on trial, but it is evident that they tortured the poor baby and eventually died. She is convicted of all charges against her and sentenced to death in California. As of 2019, she remains on California Death Row.
There is not much about her early life for public knowledge as there are no other crimes associated with this crime in her record.
The sources suggest that Belinda Magana, a mother of Corona toddler Malachi, a 2-year-old boy, scalded that baby in the shower. The mother put ointment on the baby but did not seek medical help because she and her boyfriend feared getting in trouble with the authorities. Belinda said in her testimony that the injury happened when she was out doing grocery shopping with Malachi’s brother, who was 4 years old at that time. Narine, a fatherly figure to Malachi and Magana’s boyfriend, also blamed the brother for turning the hot water in the shower. Later on, after this testimony, they both admitted hitting and beating the boy when he would cry and disturb them. The experts at the court concluded that a blunt force trauma to the head and several other burns scalded injuries were why 2-year-old boy Malachi died.
When the poor boy died, there was a Mother’s Day picnic at Corona Park, where Belinda and her boyfriend reported that the child is missing. When police questioned her, she admitted what happened, which led them to her son’s shallow grave. She and Narine drove to a party in Apple valley and buried the body near Lytle Creek in San Bernardino County the next day.
At first, Belinda continued to deny the fact that she killed her baby. She sniffled and spoke briefly about her son. Whereas her boyfriend, Narine, didn’t choose to say anything. There was a separate hearing for both of them. Belinda was sentenced to death on 5-1-2015.
